When should the oil be changed and how much oil should be changed? In fact, these problems are complex problems of bearing maintenance technology.

As for the question of whether grease can be used indefinitely, the answer is definitely no. Because excessive use of grease can cause many harms to bearings.

Grease has a very good effect on bearings. It has good adhesion, wear resistance, temperature resistance, rust resistance and lubricity. It can improve high temperature oxidation resistance, delay aging, dissolve carbon deposits and prevent metal wear debris. and the agglomeration of oil dirt to improve the wear resistance, pressure resistance and corrosion resistance of the machinery.

However, the greater the grease filling amount, the greater the friction torque. For the same filling amount, the friction torque of sealed bearings is greater than that of open bearings. After the grease filling amount is equivalent to 60% of the internal space volume of the bearing, the friction torque no longer increases significantly. This is because most of the grease in the open bearings has been squeezed out, and the grease in the sealed bearings has also been lost.

As the grease filling amount increases, the temperature rise of the bearing increases linearly. For the same filling amount, the temperature rise of sealed bearings is higher than that of open bearings. It is generally believed that the grease filling amount of sealed rolling bearings should not exceed about 50% of the internal space at most.

Generally speaking, the lubrication schedule of bearings is based on time. Equipment suppliers often develop lubrication schedules based on operating hours. Also, equipment suppliers often include guidance on lubricant quantities during their maintenance schedules. It is very common for workers to change lubricating oil in a short period of time, and more grease is often added.
