1. the raceway is inclined and peeling
There is an inclined spalling ring on the bearing working surface, indicating that the bearing is working in an inclined state. When the tilt Angle reaches or exceeds the critical state, it is easy to form abnormal sharp wear and spalling at an early stage. The main reasons are bad installation, deflection of shaft, low precision of shaft neck and shell hole.
Measures are taken to ensure the installation quality of bearings and improve the axial runout accuracy of shaft shoulder and hole shoulder, or improve the viscosity of lubricating oil to obtain thicker lubricating oil film.
2. The ring is broken
Ring failure is rare and usually caused by sudden overload. The causes are complex, such as bearing raw material defects (bubble shrinkage), forging defects (overburning), heat treatment defects (overheating), processing defects (local burns or surface micro-cracks), host defects (poor installation, poor lubrication, instantaneous overload), etc. Overloading, shock load or violent vibration may cause the ring to break.
The countermeasures adopted are to avoid overload and impact load, select appropriate interference, improve installation accuracy, improve service conditions and strengthen quality control in bearing manufacturing process.
3. The cage is broken
Cage fracture belongs to the accidental abnormal failure mode. The reasons are mainly as follows:
A. Abnormal load on cage
If the installation is not in place, tilt, too much interference and so on, it is easy to reduce the clearance, aggravate the friction heat, soften the surface, and appear abnormal peeling early.
As spalling expands, spalling foreign matter enters the cage pocket hole, leading to cage operation retarding and additional load, aggravating cage wear. Such worsening circulation may cause cage fracture.
B. Poor lubrication
Mainly refers to the bearing running in the state of lean oil, easy to form adhesive wear, so that the working surface state deteriorates, adhesive wear tear easily into cage, cage to produce abnormal load, may cause cage fracture
C. The invasion of foreign matter is the common mode of cage fracture failure
Due to the invasion of foreign hard foreign matter, the wear of the cage is aggravated and abnormal additional load is generated, which may lead to the fracture of the cage
D. Creep phenomenon is also one of the causes of cage fracture
The so-called creep refers to the sliding phenomenon of the ring. In the case of insufficient interference of the mating surface, the load point moves in the surrounding direction due to sliding, resulting in the deviation of the relative axis of the ring or the circumferential direction of the shell.
Once the creep occurs, the mating surface will wear significantly, and the worn powder may enter the bearing interior, forming a process of abnormal wear — raceway spalling – cage wear and additional load, and even causing cage fracture.
E. Cage material defects
(such as cracks, large heterogeneous metal inclusions, shrinkage holes, bubbles) and riveting defects (missing nails, padding nails or serious riveting gap between the two half cage joint surface) may cause cage fracture.
