Tapered roller bearing ball base surface and large retaining edge contact and bearing life relationship

In the design of tapered roller bearings, the bearing roller ball base surface and retaining edge of the contact state and the existence of problems, will affect the service life of the bearing, the following I tell you can be from the bearing roller ball base surface and large retaining edge contact problems and the state of contact for analysis.
1, tapered roller ball base surface and large retaining edge in contact with the problems that exist
In the large tapered angle tapered roller bearings, the inner ring raceway, outer ring raceway and roller outer diameter 3 surfaces mainly bear radial load, theoretically in a pure rolling state. In this paper, the angle between the outer ring raceway bus and the shaft center line is about α = 25° to 29°, so it is called large taper angle tapered roller bearing. The bearing’s ability to bear axial load is higher than general tapered roller bearings, mainly used to bear radial and axial combined load mainly in one direction of axial load.
The design and processing method of conventional tapered roller ball base surface does not meet the service life requirements of tapered roller bearings. The main problems and the current situation (as shown in Figure 1) are
(1) Uneven wear of the inner ring large retaining edge surface and roller ball base surface, and large scatter of SR value of the roller ball base surface.
(2) Abnormal temperature rise often occurs during bearing use.
(3) The contact position between the large tapered tapered roller ball base surface and the large inner ring edge is abnormal, and the contact position sometimes appears between the outer edge of the large inner ring edge and the cavity diameter edge of the roller ball base surface, and sometimes appears between the inner edge of the large inner ring edge and the radial chamfer edge of the roller ball base surface, that is, the contact position between the roller ball base surface and the large inner ring edge often appears to be erratic.
(4) The bearing inner ring large retaining edge sometimes appears to be broken. Therefore, in order to effectively improve the service life of such large tapered tapered roller bearings, we must first solve the problem of the impact of roller ball base surface shape on bearing performance.
Based on the structural characteristics of this large tapered tapered roller bearing and the basic law of the stress state and deformation of the roller, inner ring raceway and large retaining edge after wear, the tapered roller ball base surface shape of the bearing is optimized and improved.
2, tapered roller ball base surface and inner ring large retaining edge contact state analysis
Roller ball base surface and inner ring big stop edge are working surface, they are in the work of sliding friction, in poor lubrication or contact position is not reasonable, will produce serious friction wear, burn or stress concentration, and then lead to bearing raceway, roller ball base surface and outer diameter of early fatigue spalling and failure. Tapered roller ball base surface shape, ball base surface of the cavity diameter size and inner ring large edge shape is the main factor that affects the abnormal temperature rise of the inner ring large edge and bearing bearing capacity, tapered roller ball base surface and inner ring large edge contact position is also very important link.
The abnormal contact position and wear condition between the inner circle large retaining edge and roller ball base surface, also affects the service life of the bearing. Uneven wear phenomenon, especially because the tapered roller ball base surface cavity diameter size is small and caused by the cavity diameter edge bump ( as shown in Figure 1b ), can cause the roller ball base surface and the inner ring large retaining edge contact poor. If accompanied by the inner ring large retaining edge angle difference super poor, surface roughness super poor and other problems, uneven wear will cause the inner ring large retaining edge surface spiral form wear. Therefore, according to the bearing inner ring large bezel condition appropriately increase the tapered roller ball base surface cavity diameter size, on the one hand, is conducive to tapered roller two end face equal area grinding, effectively ensure the tapered roller two end chamfer coordinate size; on the other hand, also conducive to improve the bearing work axial load and roller ball base surface SR value scatter difference and other factors lead to the unevenness of the inner ring large bezel surface, roller ball base wear degree phenomenon.
In addition, at the contact point, the size of the sliding friction and the location of the contact point: when the diameter of the circumference of the contact point is small, sliding friction is small; vice versa, sliding friction is large. Therefore, the roller ball base surface and the large retaining edge contact position in the middle, can effectively avoid or reduce the phenomenon of large retaining edge fragmentation.
