Question 1: Does bearing steel rust? Yes, it will rust. Bearing steel, including stainless steel, rusts. Although stainless steel is claimed to be rust-free, it actually rusts, and in fact, there is no rust-free steel in the world! Question 2: How does bearing steel rust? The so-called stainless steel, it means that the degree of corrosion resistance is just different. Corrosion rate <0.01mm/y, considered “fully corrosion-resistant”. Corrosion rate <0.1mm/y, it is considered “corrosion resistant”. Corrosion rate > 0.1mm/y, is considered “not corrosion-resistant”, that is, the general steel. In addition to a small number of bearing steel is stainless bearing steel, most of them are ordinary corrosion-resistant steel, so rust is not surprising, it is normal. Question 3: Why do bearings rust? Bearing rust is related to material and environment. Bearing steel itself contains carbon, which will react with water vapor. If you want to prevent the bearings from rusting, you should do a good job of anti-rust treatment. Or use non-steel bearings. Metal products are prone to rust after oxidation, and stainless steel bearings are no exception. Many factors affect its rust: such as the chemical composition and structure of the metal material itself; the surface finish (oxygen concentration difference battery corrosion); the composition and pH of the solution in contact with the metal surface; and the environment in which it is located, and many other factors, all of which are direct factors that make the bearing rust. In addition, when we use the bearings, do not directly touch the items with your hands, because when sweat is in contact with the bearings, it will form a sweat film on the surface of the bearings, and the sweat film will cause electrochemical effects on the bearings and corrode them. Therefore, we should use special tools such as special gloves or finger covers to pick up the bearings, and do not touch them directly with our hands. Question 4: Will the bearings made of GCr15 bearing steel rust in outdoor environment? The Cr content of this steel is too small, the value behind the bearing steel is the Cr content, the unit is one thousandth, the Cr content of GCr15 is only about 1.5%, if the Cr content can be close to the 13% cut-off, the rust prevention effect is better, for example, Cr12 (about 12% Cr content) type of steel is basically Not much rusting. Question 5: Can bearing steel be rust-proof? Although the Cr content of bearing steel is relatively high and has a certain effect of rust prevention, the Cr content of steel is small, and the Cr content of GCr15 is only about 1.5%, and the Cr element at this time is to improve the mechanical properties of steel. As with metals in general, wet conditions can cause rusting. Therefore, rust prevention measures for bearings and their parts are still very necessary. Question 6: How to prevent rusting of bearings? 1、Surface cleaning method. Cleaning must be based on the nature of the surface of the rust prevention material and the prevailing conditions, and the appropriate method must be selected. Solvent cleaning, chemical treatment cleaning and mechanical cleaning methods are commonly used. When the surface is dry and clean, the filtered dry compressed air can be used to blow dry, or dry with a dryer of 120~170℃, or clean gauze can be used to dry. 2、Methods of applying antirust oil (1) Immersion method: Some small bearings are immersed in antirust grease, so that the surface is adhered to a layer of antirust grease method. The thickness of the oil film can be achieved by controlling the temperature or viscosity of the antirust grease. (2) Brush coating method: It is used for large bearings that are not suitable for dipping or spraying. When brushing, attention should be paid to both not producing accumulation and preventing leakage. (3) Spray method: Some large bearings cannot be oiled by the immersion method, and are generally sprayed with filtered compressed air at about 0.7Mpa pressure in a clean air place. The spray method is applicable to solvent diluted antirust oil or thin layer of antirust oil, but perfect fire and labor protection measures must be adopted.
