Preventive measures for locking of stainless steel fasteners
Author: hongyuanTime:
Locking or seizure often occurs on fasteners made of stainless steel, aluminum alloy and titanium alloy. These metal alloys have anti-corrosion properties. When the surface is damaged, a thin oxide layer will be formed on the metal surface to prevent corrosion. further rust. When stainless steel fasteners are locked, the pressure and heat generated between the teeth will destroy the oxide layer, causing blockage or shearing between the metal threads, and then adhesion. When this phenomenon continues to occur, the stainless steel fastener will be completely locked, and it can no longer be removed or further locked. Usually this series of blocking_shearing_sticking_locking occurs in just a few seconds, so this phenomenon can be prevented by correctly understanding the use of this type of fastener.
1. Choose the product correctly
Before use, confirm whether the mechanical properties of the product can meet the requirements of use, such as the tensile strength of the screw and the proof load of the nut. The length of the screw should be selected appropriately, and the nut should be exposed by 1-2 pitches after tightening.
2. Before use, check whether the thread is rough, whether there is iron filings or dirt between the threads, these things often cause locking.
3. The fasteners can be lubricated before use
It is recommended to use butter, molybdenum disulfide, mica, graphite or talcum powder for lubrication. Currently, wax dipping treatment is generally used for lubrication and anti-locking.
4. Pay attention to the method of use when using
a. The speed and strength of screwing in should be appropriate, not too fast or too large. Try to use a torque wrench or socket wrench, and avoid using an adjustable wrench or an electric wrench. Excessive speed will cause the temperature to rise rapidly and cause lockup.
b. For the direction of force, the nut must be screwed in perpendicular to the axis of the screw.
5. The use of washers can effectively prevent the problem of over-tightening of the lock.
