Material Selection of Rolling Bearing Rings and Rolling Elements

Rolling bearings are a type commonly used in our daily life. Rolling bearings are mainly composed of outer rings, inner rings, rolling elements and cages. For the rings and rolling elements of rolling bearings, the selection of materials is very important. These two components can determine the performance of rolling bearings. We can choose the materials that meet the requirements of rolling bearing rings and rolling elements.
1. High carbon chromium bearing steel
Most bearing rings and rolling elements are made of special steel. The rings and rolling elements are made of high-carbon chromium bearing steel (GCr15 and GCr15SiMn and ZGCr15 and ZGCr15SiMn), and the hardness of the parts is as follows:
The rings and rollers made of GCr15 and ZGCr15 materials are HRc61~65, and the steel balls are HRc62~66;
The rings and rollers made of GCr15SiMn and ZGCr15SiMn materials are HRc60~64, and the steel balls are HRc60~66.
Bearings made of high-carbon steel and chromium bearing steel are generally suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -40 to 130 degrees, and oil and grease lubrication are normal. It can meet the requirements of general machinery.
After high-carbon chromium bearing steel bearing parts are tempered at high temperature, their adaptable working temperature can be as high as 250 degrees.
2. Carburized bearing steel
The hardness of rings and rolling elements made of carburized bearing steel is as follows: the rings and rolling elements are HRc60~64, generally suitable for the working temperature range of -40~140 degrees Celsius, oil and grease lubrication are normal, and can be used in It is used under conditions of large shock and vibration, such as bearings for rolling stock and rolling mills, but the heat treatment process of this steel type is relatively complicated.
3. Heat-resistant bearing steel
The rolling body of the ferrule made of heat-resistant bearing steel has a hardness of HRc60~64 for the ferrule and the roller, and HRc61~65 for the steel ball. Under the condition of normal lubrication, it is suitable for the working temperature of 120~250 degrees Celsius. Such as aero-engine, gas turbine and other spindle working conditions.
4. Corrosion-resistant bearing steel
The ferrule and rolling body are made of corrosion-resistant bearing steel. The hardness of the ferrule and rolling body should not be lower than HRc58. It is suitable for corrosive media such as water, nitric acid, and chemical reagents. The temperature is -253~350 degrees Celsius.
