Spindle bearing is a very important part for the engine. If the spindle bearing is damaged, the engine can not be used normally. Bearing damage is a common problem in the process of use. According to the understanding of bearing knowledge, the following is to share some common damage forms and corresponding causes of engine spindle bearings, hoping to be of some help to you.
3.rolling imprintRolling marks are plastic deformation marks that occur on the surface of bearing elements. They are linear or circular in random direction. This is caused by particles passing between bearing elements when the bearing is running. The bottom of the impression is generally the same as the surface of the bearing element. FIG. 3 shows a typical rolling impression of a bearing element.
If the lubricating oil contains hard particles, it can not only cause abrasive damage, but also may cause indentation on the surface of rolling body and raceway. In addition, excessive impact in the assembly and disassembly of bearings, the whole machine and its components or transportation may cause indentation on the surface of the raceway or rolling body. The appearance of calendering marks will increase the noise of the bearing, and produce excess stress (that is, edge effect) at the edge of the marks, so as to become the starting point of fatigue spalling, and may also make the bearing clearance disappear and become stuck when rotating.
4. Bearing damage caused by inclusions on the working surface or secondary surface
Figure 4 shows the carbide morphology on the bearing ring. Because the carbide, oxide inclusions toughness is poor, and with the surrounding clear interface formed between the base material, when its size is bigger and exists between bearing working surface and sub-surface, squeezed easily after fracture, the surrounding edge several frequently by both sides protruding material extrusion in the concave groove and relaxation is easy to produce fatigue crack, flake and become the starting point.
The control of inclusions such as carbide and oxide can be achieved by selecting high quality bearing materials and optimizing the smelting and forging process of materials.
5. bearing skid and rub injury
Skid damage is a special form of subtle wear, due to high bearing speed, light load, rolling parts/raceway contact surface in the rotation of the strong sliding. Skidding and rubbing are characterized by sparks at the end of the mark. FIG. 5 shows a typical skid mark of bearing ring.
Skidding and rubbing is a common fault of aeroengine spindle roller bearing, and also occurs on ball bearing. The main reason of roller bearing skid and rub injury is that the rotor weight is light, the bearing does not form enough radial load; The main reason of ball bearing skid and rub injury is axial load change. In addition, when the motion resistance of the rolling body and cage is too large, it will also skid and rub.
The sliding and rubbing injury of the bearing leads to the change of the geometric dimension of the bearing element, which leads to vibration and noise. Bearing internal clearance increases, reducing bearing life; The cage became brittle or even cracked.
By reducing the number and size of the rolling body, reducing the weight of the cage, using non-circular rings, reducing the radial clearance and increasing the preload and so on, the sliding and rubbing injury of the bearing can be avoided.
