The so-called foreign body is the particle outside the working surface of the rolling body. There are several main sources of foreign bodies.

(1) Ash or other impurities brought by grease;

(2) residual metal chips after processing parts;

(3) Environmental foreign matter enters the bearing during the removal process;

(4) Local damage caused by mechanical impact in the assembly process;

(5) Dust in the working environment.

The most common influence of the above foreign bodies is that foreign bodies are brought into and removed from the assembly environment of grease and enter the bearing.

The influence of foreign body size, when the diameter of foreign body particle exceeds the thickness of oil film, it will destroy the oil film, cause strain, and cause bearing damage or early failure. When the foreign body diameter is large, the foreign body can directly damage the bearing rotary body, resulting in direct damage.

When the foreign body diameter is less than the minimum working clearance of the bearing, the foreign body can be stirred with grease through the clearance to cause friction on the working surface of the rolling body. When the foreign body diameter is greater than the working clearance of the bearing, the foreign body is crushed or ground into thin dust adhesion on the bearing surface or embedded in it.

If the crushed foreign body debris is not embedded in the working surface of the male, and enters the lubricating oil, it will further aggravate bearing wear. So that the bearing fatigue spalling. Cause the temperature of the working surface to rise, the lubricating oil and then lose its role, so that the bearing fails, the foreign body is crushed or embedded in the rolling body, that is, the oil film is soon destroyed, resulting in the work and operation of the bearing under the state of dry friction.

Therefore, in daily use, foreign bodies into the bearing rolling body should be strictly controlled.
