Influence of excessive pressure on bearings
Author: hongyuanTime:
Bearing is a vital part of modern machinery production activities, if in the assembly, test and use process fails to operate in accordance with the requirements, it is likely to let the bearing produce too much “pressure”, resulting in bearing deformation; Or fall apart completely, or even more seriously.
The following example diagram is used to analyze the cause of bearing deformation: overload deformation
The root cause of typical installation damage is the use of inappropriate tools. The retainer is hit (2x) and plastic deforms.
Overloading deformation is plastic deformation caused by static or impact loads, and similar damage can result from improper operation.
In general, the results of overload shock and knock are similar, so they are combined into one failure mode.
Here, the rolling body is directly impacted, and the raceway and rolling body undergo plastic deformation. If these bearings work, they will produce noise and vibration.
Raceways and rolling parts may be depressed (Brinell indentation) if mounting force is applied to the wrong ring to transfer loads through the rolling body, or if the bearing is subjected to abnormal loads when not in operation. The distance between the indentations is the distance between the rolling element.
The solution is simple. Always use the correct installation tools and methods.
The load is not transmitted through the rolling body. In both cases, it is deformed due to overload and installation problems.
The bearing inner ring (tight fit) is mounted on the shaft by transferring mounting force from the outer ring to the inner ring of the ball. This is an axial impact force (impact), the damage position spacing is the raceway in the rolling element distance (axial displacement to the shoulder is also its mark).
Subsequent work will produce greater stress at these indentation points, leading to local fatigue of the ball pitch. If it is not stopped in time, abrasive wear and spalling will occur throughout the circumference, and if work continues, the true cause in the first place will be difficult to determine.
Other components may already be mounted on the shaft. Improper shaft support, bearing bearing installation force. Here, the radial impact load destroys the inner raceway, the distance between the rolling bodies (center mark). The subsequent loading operation will generate greater stress at these points, resulting in local fatigue of the ball pitch.
Debris from the initial spalling has spread throughout the bearing and in turn has been covered. The entire raceway shows signs of peeling (see picture below).
When cylindrical roller bearings are installed, the rings with rollers and cage assemblies are often entered askew without rotation. The roller will cut the raceway on another lap, creating long, horizontal stripes. For larger bearings, use mounting sleeves.
Handling is sometimes critical, whether in manufacturing, shipping, inventory or installation! Poor handling is characterized by local overloading that causes’ nicks’ on hard and sharp objects, mainly rolling elements. In use, bearings will soon have noise (see the picture below).
