Five aspects need to be paid attention to in bearing operation

It is important to check the condition of running machines and prepare a thorough inspection plan. Bearing is the focus of attention, because it is the most important rotating parts in all machines. Therefore, the operator or maintenance engineer of the machine must be highly alert to the “fault signals” of bearings, such as noise, temperature and vibration. “Listening”, “touching” and “observing” are three important factors.
First,touch
High temperature often indicates that the bearing is in an abnormal situation. Sometimes bearing overheating can be attributed to bearing lubricants, causes of bearing high temperature include: insufficient or excessive lubrication, lubricants contain impurities, excessive load, bearing damage, insufficient clearance, and high temperature friction produced by oil seals and so on. Therefore, continuous monitoring of bearing temperature is necessary, whether it is to measure the bearing itself or other important parts. If the operating conditions are unchanged, any temperature change may indicate that a fault has occurred.
The bearing temperature can be measured regularly with the help of a thermometer, which can accurately measure the bearing temperature and display it in accordance with degrees Celsius. The so-called important bearings mean that when they are damaged, they will cause the shutdown of the equipment, so it is best for such bearings to be equipped with temperature detectors. Under normal circumstances, the bearing will have a natural temperature rise after just lubrication or re-lubrication and last for one or two days.
Second, the observation
Get good lubrication bearing if and cut off the right moisture and debris, said oil seal should not wear, however, when open the bearing box, best to visual inspection of bearings and periodically check the oil seal, check of the condition of the near the bearing oil seal, to ensure that they are enough to prevent hot liquids or corrosion along the axis of the liquid or gas seeping into the bearings. Protective rings and oil seals shall be greased for maximum protection. If the oil seal is worn, it should be replaced as soon as possible. In addition to preventing impurities from entering the bearing, another function of the oil seal is to keep the lubricant in the bearing box. Oil seal if there is oil leakage phenomenon should immediately check whether the oil seal has been damaged or loose oil plug. The phenomenon of oil leakage may also be caused by the loosening of the joint surface of the bearing box or the stirring and oil leakage caused by the addition of too much lubricant. Check the automatic lubrication system to ensure the correct amount of addition, and check whether the lubricant is discolored or black. If there is such a phenomenon, it usually means that the lubricant contains impurities.
Third, listening
Hearing irregularities is a common way to identify them. For example, using an electronic stethoscope to check for abnormal noise in a part is a method used by experienced operators. If the bearing is in good running condition, it will emit a low whine sound. If a sharp hiss, squeak and other irregular sound is emitted, it usually means that the bearing is in poor operation. The sharp squeaking noise may be caused by improper lubrication. Improper bearing clearance may also cause metallic sound. Dents on the bearing outer ring track will cause vibration and cause a smooth and crisp sound. If the percussion scars caused by the installation will also produce noise, the noise will be different with the height of the bearing speed. If there is intermittent noise, it indicates that the rolling parts may be damaged. This sound occurs when the damaged surface is rolled out, and if there are pollutants in the bearing, it often causes a hissing sound. Serious bearing damage will produce irregular and loud noise.
Bearing damage can be detected by hearing, but usually it has arrived at this time the bearing must be replaced immediately. Therefore, a better method, such as using electronic condition monitoring instruments, is to diagnose the operation of bearings in advance.
Bearing conditions can be estimated more accurately with advanced instruments than with the old method, which uses a stick or screwdriver against the bearing box and the other end against the ear.
